I've not been pleased with the political climate in the country of late. First, there is the "nationalism masquerading as patriotism" led by Bush and Ashcroft, working hard to do what terrorists could never do, and remove freedom from this country. Instituting secret surveillence in public libraries. Jailing people without recourse to lawyers, or even announcing who is being held. The Republicans will soon start wearing brown shirts, and burning all the books in the country. For a good education on the nasty people with the cute elepant mascot, read 98 Rock's Lopez.
Even an expert on international intrigue realizes something is rotten.h.
And don't get me started about "religion". Some morons seem to think that the United States is somehow a "Christian country", disregarding the fact that most of our Founding Fathers where actually "Deists" (closer to Unitarian than anything else), and that one of the guiding principals of this country has always been freedom from religious persecution. So, apparently some people consider "religious freedom" to mean "freedom to chose any conservative protestant Christian denomination". And for all the complaints about "those radical Muslims", radical Christians are no better. In fact, despite the fact that the 3 Judeo-Christian religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) feature teachings about love, kindness and peace in their holy writings (ignore anything in "Paul's letter to the So-and-So's", Paul was a hateful little man) most adherants are judgemental and bigoted. There are exceptions, of course: everyone admires Martin Luthor King, Jr. So do I. But Mohandas Ghandi was just as good, and was Hindu.
