Design Your Own Quilts : One-Of-A-Kind Quilts : Revised and Updated With 55 New Quilts
by Judy Hopkins
review by L.
This is a formula book which consists of various "plans". The reader gets a list of
various blocks patterns, and selects various combinations depending on the size of
the quilt. This is really a lot of fun because the quilt just seems to make itself.
Great book for a beginner who wants to feel really creative.

Pattern Play : Creating Your Own Quilts
by Doreen Speckmann
review by L.
This is truly a how-to book, a design-your-own-quilt book. Speckman explains her
concepts for creating original blocks with clarity. There are numerous examples of
finished quilts in color, designs which the user could duplicate. Everything is
based on squares and triangles (right-angle for the most part), so that it would not be
difficult to use this book to make her quilts.

review by L.
This book of quilting patterns and tips on making your own designs also includes lavish
illustrations of some of Mrs. Marston's quilts, and a few block patterns. Her instructions
are comprehensive and easy to follow. An excellent book about the actual process of
quilting the quilt.
