More Quick Country Quilting : 60 New Fast and Fun Projects (Rodale Quilt Book)
by Debbie Mumm
review by L.
This book contains over 250 pages of techniques and patterns for country style quilts.
There are some Christmas projects and a dinosaur quilt to die for, with instructions
for making stuffed animals from the dinosaur pattern. There's a rag doll pattern that
any little girl would love.

More Projects & Patterns : A Second Collection of Favorite Quilts : Narratives,
Directions, and Patterns for 15 Quilts
by Judy Florence
review by L.
This book contains a narrative about each quilt pictured and gives instructions. It
discusses how the quilt came to be made, its pattern, why it's successful, and other
information which should interest a person who might want to make that quilt. The
illustrations are very nicely done. The full-size pattern does not include the seam
allowance; however, the instructions are good and easy to follow. While many of the
patterns are available elsewhere, there are a few unusual ones that make the book worth
purchasing.

Quilts! Quilts!! Quilts!!! : The Complete Guide to Quiltmaking
by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes
review by L.
This book would be an asset to any quilt library. Ten chapters in the book discuss
quiltmaking techniques, using a pattern and color selection, fabric preparation and block
construction, sewing the quilt together, getting the quilt actually ready to quilt it,
and then the quilting and binding. Thirty-two patterns are given, including some
applique. Color illustrations as well as the block construction illustrations are
outstanding.

Quick Quilts from the Heart (For the Love of Quilting)
by Liz Porter and Marianne Fons
review by L.
You either love Fons and Porter or you don't. And I gotta admit a lot of people love
'em. Patterns are outstandingly simple to follow and the instructions are great. But
I don't find their patterns spectacularly inspiring. This book would be a good
place for a beginner to start, but with only one or two exceptions in the book, I
don't believe anyone with many quilt books would find it particularly exciting.

Color Confidence for Quilters
by Jinny Beyer
review by L.
Particularly for beginning quilters, this is an excellent book on the use of color. It
explains how to use both few and many fabric patterns. It explains how to make a
color palette and how to create a palette based on a quilt pattern. This is a very useful
book.
