Quilt a Saurus
by Toni Phillips and Juanita Simonich
review by L.
These patterns, primarily pieced but with some applique, feature five different
dinosaurs, including a pteranodon. The book gives a little bit of information about
each of the various dinosaurs featured, to capture children's interest. It shows several
ways to combine them into quilts.

Cat Quilts and Crafts
by Lavera Langeman
review by L.
A must for the cat lover! You would not believe how many drawings of a cat's different
moods can be accomplished, and all of them are charming. My favorite, of course, is
the one where the cat is preparing to scratch with the back leg. A number of projects
are shown for using these designs. In addition, the back of the book has a number of
related designs which could be incorporated. For "bug in the bottle" fans, there is
even a pattern for a milk bottle, although except for a butterfly, there are no bug
patterns.

The Cat's Meow : Purr-Fect Quilts for Cat Lovers
by Janet Kime, Karin La Framboise, and Ursula G. Reikes
review by L.
The subtitle says it all. My heart was captured by the Sunbonnet kitten. Contains a
good section of color quilts, directions for rotary cutting, and full-size patterns for
applique pieces. Strangely, I suppose for the cat's amusement and malicious pleasure, a
dog quilt also nestles in these pages.

Quilted Legends of the West
by Judy Zehner and Kim Mosher
review by L.
This is a wonderful collection of Native American animals. The animal itself is pieced
in a quilt design appropriate to that animal. It includes patterns for two similar quilts,
"We Were Here" and "Big Buff", which feature a bison. There is a pattern for a black
bear with a Bear's Paw quilt pattern on his back, and many more. This is truly a
wonderful collection of quilts for men.

Go Wild With Quilts : Fourteen North American Birds and Animals
by Margaret Rolfe
review by L.
The 14 animals in this book are illustrated naturalistic drawing, first as blocks which
may or may not be illustrated full-size, and then full-color individual wallhangings
based on the framed block, and then again in quilts adapted particularly to that animal.
For example, the "Eager Beaver" quilt places the beaver in a forest, in which one tree
is in the process of falling. The "Bear's Paw" quilt consists of nine traditional Bear's
Paw quilting blocks, and a border with a pieced bear on each side. The hummingbird
quilt is indeed lovely, and the mallard duck quilt or the moose quilt would be wonderful
gifts for the man in your life, while the squirrels quilt would thrill any child.

Go Wild With Quilts-Again! : 10 New Bird & Animal Designs
by Margaret Rolfe
review by L.
Mrs. Rolfe continues her spectacular designs of wild animals in this second volume,
containing an additional ten wild animal designs. The turtle quilt would enchant any
child. Men would really like the swimming loons or the four deer hiding in a patchwork
forest. And the goldfinches would appeal to a little girl or woman. Another highly
recommended book of wild animals.

Patchwork Quilts to Make for Children
by Margaret Rolfe
review by L.
Another of Mrs. Rolfe's marvelous books. While most of the quilts are animal-oriented,
she has branched out a little to include doll quilts, a basket, dresden plates, and other
doll quilts. She has a wonderful zoo animal quilt, with lions, tigers, zebras,
pandas, elephants, and other animals; a Miss Mouse Sunbonnet quilt; and a wonderful
penguin quilt made with mattress ticking. Easy to follow instructions, even for the
novice quilter. Truly a must-have for animal lovers.

No Dragons on My Quilt
by Jean Ray Laury
review by Jenny
What could possibly be better than a special quilt made by your mother or grandmother? A
quilt with a special story! In this book, Benjamin is afraid to go to bed alone, but
the special quilt made by his grandmother makes things better. This special quilt is
one you can make too, with the patterns and instructions included in the book. The story
makes the quilt extra-special, and the quilt encourages the child to love to read. It's
fun to read about your own stuff!
